Synopsis
Oscar works to overcome his fear of crossing a very scary bridge.
Description
The Library door has been broken, apparently making it necessary for the entire island to remain silent. Oscar is to fetch potion ingredients for Hedgehog and Margo to fix the broken hinge. He needs goo goo berries, which grow on a bush across a small stream. When he says "aha!" at realising this, all the library patrons are quick to "Shhh!" him. He goes on his way with a picnic basket.
When he goes across the bridge to the berries, a pair of large red eyes appear in the hollow of a tree, scaring him. He runs away to the Mess Hall, where Hedgehog wants the ingredients. He relays that he needs more time and heads back to the tree, this time asking Howard to carry him across the bridge. Howard obliges, but is also scared by the tree creature, and drops Oscar as he runs away.
Oscar leaves a dropped orange behind as he runs, but sees that the creature likes them and hatches a plan. He comes back with a basket of oranges, but not before being hurried along by Margot. He hoped to use the oranges as a distraction, bu the creature collects them all with a metal hook on a chain before Oscar is done getting his berries. With no other way back to camp, he creates a large puppet with scary eyes to hold as he passes the tree. The scare tactic works and the creature runs to hide behind the tree, revealing itself to be a small rabbit-like creature with defensive eye markings on his large ears. Oscar discards his puppet and offers the creature a couple berries before taking it with him.
Back at the Library, Hedgehog makes the potion and fixes the door. Oscar is happy and shouts about being excited to speak again, prompting another immediate "shhh!" from the patrons. The creature goes on a long rant about the patrons being whiny squares and needing to live a little.
